Jus came across this, seems real (but most likely not) I'm not going for it but let me know what you guys
    Think. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1944-STEEL-...42?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item25764d51c2
I remember a while back a guy on the thread brought 2 44 steels for just under $1000 turns out they were just regular 44's (but the pictures were black and white) the thing that concerns me about this cent is how all the picture are incredibaly blurry, I don't know give me your thoughts.

Better pics would be needed before I would even consider placing a bid. It looks like he's hiding the fact that it may be plated.

He indicates that the magnetic attraction is less than a '43... and that's because it's plated, which even in those blurry pics is quite obvious to me. What amazes me is that are 34 bids pushing the price over $200.

That is absolutely not real. They planted doubt in the listing to cover them self. If they knew to grab a magnet and how magnetic a steel cent is then they know this is not real. If real it would be worth a fortune so why not have it graded? This listing is BS.

We'll see the buyer on this site questioning us in no time.

No, we'll see the buyer on this site telling us we're all full of hooey and they know exactly what they have because they took it to a jeweler who doesn't know anything about numismatics but is 100% sure it's exactly as it appears to be.

THIS IS A 1944 STEEL PENNY YOU CAN PICK IT UP WITH A MAGNET BUT IT IS NOT AS STRONG AS A 1943 STEEL PENNY.

Duh! That's because it was plated.

I wonder if I could get the person who purchased the coin to post on this thread?
Well once he leaves a negative feedback (I'm assuming he would since it ain't real) I'll contact him.

I would not pay over a penny for that coin unless it was certified by a TPG.

The thing that screams fake to me about this coin is,
Why would he not send it in to get graded? (because it's fake)
Why would someone even think about listing a $100k+ coin on eBay and sell it for $300? (because it's fake)
I just can't wait to hear from the guy who brought this.
