I enjoy coin hunting and finding treasure for face value in rolled coins and I buy junk silver coins for melt or heckle the sellers for less. I just think it is odd that people pay well over melt value for junk silver coins on ebay. I know this was kind of random but I was on ebay just casually looking while I was on here.

I find 925 for under melt sometimes, but when you factor in you only get 90% out of it if you send off to a refiner your making $7.50 per hundred you spend. It's time consuming to find the deals and some you barely break even on. Roll searching is less risky but there is certainly more work involved. I like making making my money work for me by roll searching but if I come upon a good scrap silver deal I'll snap it up and use the proceeds to buy WL Halves. Free silver!

I went to my 2-dime-box branch, Monday as usual, but they didn't have my regular 2 boxes to give me - come back tomorrow, they say! They did happened to have $340 in halves, which I picked up. Skunk.

I stopped at my 1-dime-box branch early and picked up my box. Solid 2012. Blah. I might stop at a small branch and try to trade them out for some rolls though.

    Today's results:

    $4 Pennies: 137 copper, 1 Canadian, 1947D, 1956D, 7 bonus/extra.

    $14 Nickles: 2 X 1941P, 1946P, 1954D, 1957D, 1958D.

$20 Dimes, $380 Quarters, $150 Dollars, all skunk.

Out here in my neck of the woods, the banks always ask if I have an account if I want rolls. If it is One West or Chase, I do, and can get them at other branches. Otherwise pretty much no. Maybe one or two rolls, but that is about it. When I was a kid, I would get pennies, change them for nickles at another bank, change those for pennies, and so on. But being all grown up now, I can't get away with that.
