Hi all, Just picked up this proof which I thought seemed to have a nice cameo contrast. Now that I've taken some pictures of it, the cameo seems to be a bit weak...what do you think? Would this coin be worth submitting to NGC/PCGS? (The proof also has some pink/green toning on lncoln's face/bust): A few pictures using flash and diffused lighting: A couple more without diffused lighting and no flash: 3 more pictures on the next post... Thanks! -CB
looks nice. the different lighting sure gives a lot of different looks to the coin so it's hard to tell what's what. still real nice. I wouldn't go for grading but get it into an airtite for protection.
Although there is a descent cameo contrast, I don't think it would get the designation. Sending it in for grading may be worth the risk though, the price jump for the cameo designation is significant.
I agree with you. I'm starting to think that the "cameo" look came from the toning, not the actual strike. The cameo starts to "wear off" near the base of Lincoln's bust where there's little/no toning, which seems to confirm my suspicions. In addition, even if it did have a shot at Cameo, does PCGS slab any RB Proofs as CAM/DCAM? I know NGC does but I'm not sure if PCGS slabs any RB coins as D/CAM (only RD as far as I know). Anyways, thanks for all the help! -CB
