This is one of my favorite Lincoln Memorials in my collection. It is a NGC MS68RD 1983 Double Die Rev. This is an impressive guide book variety with a wide spread on the reverse legends and on the horizontal lines of the Memorial. Die polish lines on each side of the portrait suggest mint personnel concentrated on the appearance of the wrong die. The peach-gold surfaces are devoid of contact marks or carbon. States of is slightly incomplete and a few tiny bubbles reside beneath the copper plate.
Here's one that broke my heart when it popped out of the obw....the second coin is typical of what you find in these rolls.
Today's offerings are a NGC MS69RD 1985 obv and rev. My first MS69 coin in my collection with a current NGC population of 5. Also a NGC MS68RD 1985D obv and rev
That 85P is just SICK! I do agree with the grade! The D should have the PL designation, if it doesn't the TPG's really don't get it when it comes to grading these. My confidence in TPG memoral cent grading is already pretty much gone as I rarely agree. Mirror-like surfaces on business strikes is exceedingly rare and any coin that exhibits that should have the PL designation.
