My One Year Contest

  1. Your favorite: Standing Liberty Quarter. The most interesting thing about it is that there were actually no quarters minted in 1931 due to the great depression. Can you imagine there being such a lack in demand it what is arguably the most popular U.S. coin.

My favorite is the Morgan dollar. I love the design on the obverse and I absolutely love the eagle on the reverse (despite the fact that it was originally despised). It doesn't hurt that it's nearly an ozt of silver as well!

    Your favorites?

    Jefferson nickels.

Interesting note: My favorite coin in my collection is a 1939 D Jefferson nickel with the reverse of 1938. It's my favorite because I like the design, it's a high grade example, and it has some awesome toning on the reverse-some lime green with orange, very unique and vibrant in certain lights. I bought it on eBay and paid about $67 for it. As far as value I'm not really sure, nor am I concerned.

Jefferson Nickels: Interesting series: I have cherry picked about #4 1943/2 war nickels, including on e that is now in an ANACS AU-50 cleaned holder.
Plus several 1939 doubled die reverses. Many neat varieties.

My current favorites: Bust $1/2. Why: So many varieties, you can collect for a life time and (literally) never finish the set. And the best part? You can cherry pick scarce to rare varieties.

    Knowledge is king.

Your favorite series is the Washingtion quarter. Though minted in high quantity, the 1932D is difficult to find in high grades and would cost approximately $43,000 of the $96,000 it would cost to purchase a complete MS66 (or is that MS67?) set through 1998.

My favorite series to collect is the Lincoln cent because there are almost 3,000 varieties and errors in the series.

I see what you did there, pretty clever. That is my favorite coin, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is from my favorite series.

I need to edit the figures. I was a little off.

The 1932D would be approximately $143,000.00 of the $191,000.00 it would cost to put together an MS66 set of Washington quarters (1932-1998).

Your favorite series to collect is the washington quarter (because it is your avatar :) )
Interesting fact: Washington was the first official president of the United States (however there were others before him before there were the 13 colonies(I just learned that is school.)) And washington was the first to cross the Delaware River (Which I live a couple miles away from).
Here are some fun facts too: He was the only president that did not live in washington, he was the only president who was unanimously elected, at age 57 he had all his teeth pulled out, he was educated by his father and brother, he never wore a powder wig (which most men wore at that time), he never shock hands with people, and he joined the british royal navy at age 14.

My favorite coin to collect is the Morgan dollar, I love the design of it and it was the very first coin that i received, which was given to me by my great grandmother before she passed away. I am a YN and now started my collection almost a year ago. Every cent that I ever make goes towards coins (I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing :p ) But all I know is that I love collecting them.

I hope this entry has a chance! There are some nice prizes.

tour favorite series to collect is the roosevelt dimes, in 1996, the roosevelt dime became the only coin to be minted at the philadelphia, denver, san francisco, and west point mint in the same year

my favorite series to collect is the lincoln cents because there is so much history behind it, the lincoln cent was the first circulating coin to feature a non-fictitious entity on it

Thank you to everyone who participated in this contest. I enjoyed reading all of your entries.
My favorite series to collect is the Franklin half dollars. I like the design a lot, it's pretty simple which I like and pretty symmetrical. Another reason I like it is because of it's affordability. Every date and mm can be purchased in MS condition for not too much money, and a lot of the dates are really affordable in gem condition as well.

    The two winners are:
    1st: TheSharpGun
    2nd: LFCfan

SharpGun and LFCfan please PM me.
