Cointalk should make its own coin! You can have tokens rather cheap, but the die fees are a bit costly. All of my steps are beneficial for CT. 1. Set up a donation for the dies. Any extra money left after the die fees can be used for CT. I think the dies are like $200 a side. So if 200 members pitch in $2, there you have it. 2. Sell the tokens....if they are 30 cents to make sell them for a buck. 70 cents on every dollar goes to CT. 3. All the members here can buy tokens, which the 70c would go to CT. Just think, sell a 1000 tokens, that's 700 dollars for CT. 4. Now the members of CT have a neat collectible honoring the forum they can enjoy. 5. It would also serve as a form of advertising, maybe give a couple tokens to friends/family who collect coins to encourage them to sign up here. Also a contest should be held for people good at drawing (not me lol), and we can all vote on the design of the coin. Cointalk makes money for it's operations, Cointalk members have a cool collectible that's also a good advertisement, and we all can vote in a contest for a design. It's a win win!
Just what I need.....another "collectible" to remember something I participated in. On another note I got a collectible in the mail today for my show dog. It's an AKC GCH Silver Level medallion (for my dog reaching Grand Champion Silver status, which means she has gotten at least 200 Grand Championship points at shows). She had 205 of those as of last count a couple of weeks ago - since there is always a delay in reporting official results. All this on top of the fact that she had to become a Champion in order to qualify for the GCH points. I do like that.
ill contribut to taxidermists 3 page long thread guess. i think its a good idea in theory but in actuality who will want to pay to ship a 1.00 token and why not do ounce rounds instead?
If you can get $398 donated I will throw in the final $2. (can we have a rock tumbler on the reverse?)
I agree that the pm rounds would be interesting and would probably attract more sales, being as so many here like to hoard precious metals... lol
I like the idea Detecto. But I should disclose that I've been collecting Coin Club medals/Tokens for the past 8 years so I like any ideas regarding them. BTW, you can over strike quarters or JFK's into nice tokens.
