I think you should return the coin and use the $17.50 as a down payment on a pair of jewels because you have lost yours.

Hehe, No worries on that score, i buy her lots of shiny things as well. She doesn't object to me spending $50 on a morgan or peace dollar or any other form of silver or gold. She just won't believe that ppl would pay that much for a "worthless dirty copper penny". Several of you hit her attitude right on the money (penny for a penny) but she's learning :D As for Girlfriend/Wife, try Engaged 17 years (and i'm not the one delaying things hehe)

And to think my girlfriend has been chomping at the marriage bit after a little over a year of dating. My hats off to you.

Ok...this is going to be rude...but I hope she's gorgeous. That's the only plausible reason I would keep her around..... ;)

He's got a point, especially if this is some sort of new passion for you. Her objection probably points to the source of the funding for your hobby. If you're spending the family bill money for your hobby, she probably feels right to have a vested interest in what you're getting. The number one argument starter among couples is not knowing what the other is doing with the "funds". Now if it's strictly your cash, then well...that's a different story.

It doesn't matter how long you've been engaged. Once you tie the knot, things will change.

Beautiful, Smart, best friend in the world does laundry and Edited i think i keep her even if she not like pennies :D And it is the return of an old hobby, one that i used to love dearly but didn't have the time for, now i do again, and have a "fixed" budget to spend each month so that's not an issue either. Besides after spending almost a $100 on a stupid stuffed penguin she can't "really" complain about a $17 penny :D (Come on guys we all know they ain't happy without something to complain about)

I just matched your complaint with your handle. As Arte Johnson would say: "Verrrry Interesting."

I can think of a great many collectors who would post such an ad if they could. :D
