I’ve been on the look for a nice Hawaii commemorative half dollar. I’ve been waiting for the right, specific coin to come to me and talk to me. Here it is. Care to guess the PCGS grade? I’ll post the slab photo tomorrow. All correct guessers at CT get bragging rights
Man, That looks like a heck of an original coin. It looks nicer then the 65 I sold a few months back. I'll say PCGS 66.
Here are some other CT threads describing commemorative half dollars. http://www.cointalk.com/t198177/ http://www.cointalk.com/t207642/ http://www.cointalk.com/t212123/ http://www.cointalk.com/t210154/
One commemoritive I'll probably never own . Sure is clean enough and the luster is all there , I agree with Matt , 66 .
It was kept in an old 2x2 paper envelope along with other commemoratives that were in envelopes & cardboard 2x2s. Some had prices like $30 written on them long ago. I got the Hawaii. I'd like to get the Alabama which also has a nice original appearance. IMO the coin has "good grandma factor". It appears to have been well preserved in grandma's coin jar.

I must watch the candidates’ debate now. I'll post the slab photos tomorrow (Thursday) before 5:00 PM EST.
I'll say '64 but I'll bet it got a bump up. Still searching for one of my own Collect89. Nice snag-a-roo........
Awesome coin. I always like to see the Hawaiian coinage. It's always been special to me, being that my family and I have all been raised here in the Islands. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to afford a nice piece yet.
My brother & his family have lived on sunset beach on the north shore of Oahu (Haleiwa Hawaii) since 1969. Maybe you know Mike & Illona and their adult kids Mike & Cara.
Green18 green18 green18 Green18 gets bragging rights. He was spot-on the PCGS MS64 grade. I think it is a lock MS65 in hand.
Thanks to FadeToBlack, green18, LostDutchman, rzage, Treashunt, vdbpenny1995, and everyone else at CT for viewing.
