Ok i try to keep it short. One of my best friends growing up was an avid penny collector very young (10ish) but he got me started collecting as well
for years we competed to fill our books but sharing our finds and extras at the same time. We each also had our treasure coin. His was a 1858 FE mine was an 1876 IH both were crappy condition but they were our treasures. when his family moved away in our teens. As parting gifts we exchanged our treasure coins. Sweet, and it should end there but it doesn't. Lots of years passed sold collection that i no longer had time for. 4 years ago i was medicaly retired. About a year ago my brother calls and tells me he found my old "treasure box" in the basement of our old house and mails it to me. Sure enough in the back corner of the box is that 58 Flying Eagle and the start of my new collection. Going strong now that i actualy really have the time to enjoy it.

So sorry for the delay in closing this contest and announcing who the winners are.

After neighbor's passing, investigation, a cat bite, infection, illness, and then rabie consultation with medical group etc, I just have not had enough time to take care of this contest.

Thank you for all your patience. I will do my best to wrap things up this weekend.
    Thank you, TESS

Reminder to all YNs. Next week will be very hectic with a lot of out of town travel. Give me about 10 days from now to post that your gifts are in the mail.

Thanks again everyone who participated by either writing in a story or just by reading.

Many years ago when I was a working man, I was selected to serve on the Grand Jury in San Diego, CA. One week we had an exceptional long case and when I left to get my car from the parking lot, it was late at night and the lot was closed, my car being the only one left. Fortunatly the lot owner who had also left, left the gate open for me to be able to exit the lot. Being grateful that I still had transportation, I proceeded to leave a Morgan silver dollar standing up right at the locked office door so that he would find it the next morning. To this day I don't know if he or someone else found the dollar, but I felt relieved that I thought that I had done the right thing.

Well when I was young (not too long ago :)) I was into Legos (which child isn't??) When I found a wheat penny at around age 6 I made a little Lego 'safe' and put that penny in it. A couple of years pass and I start to develop an interest in collecting coins well I opened the Lego box and yayy that cent was still there (even it was a common date, 1947 or something.) On another note the first slabbed coin I bought was about 6 years latter in NYC an NGC MS-67RD 1937-D cent!
