Not an easy item to fence. It won't take long to be found.

And it's not like he can sell it at a pawn shop!

    Why's that?

You think pawn shops don't buy gold coins?

You should talk to Rick Harrison and ask why he doesn't, or wouldn't buy gold coins.

Because they'll recognize it, especially Rick, and it's graded withe the date and stuff right there, not like you bring in grandmas gold jewelry for sale

And how will it be recognized if it's cracked out?

So, they are trying to buy the coin back from the robbers?

    From the article:

So how will it be recognized if it's cracked out? As in cracked out of the slab.

Actually, it would be very easy to fence. Getting even a fraction of what it is worth is a different story though.

Do you mind if I call in my buddy that knows all about these things?"

I was just thinking what I would do if I somehow got the exact coin in question. I think I would pop it out of the slab and keep it in my pocket for a while with other change to lower the grade on it and then send it off the be graded. Won't be the highest graded coin anymore but still worth a lot of money.
