    Hi, Folks!

I found four spammers this morning. They like to insert their garbage most often in the early morning hours when not too many people are around.

Anyway, as a suggestion to all, please don't respond to their garbage. It justs keeps their thread on the "Most Recent" list. If you should come across one, just report it using the little triangle at the bottom left of their post.

    Thanks!

    Chris

PS. Note to the mods: If this isn't the appropriate forum for this, please move it if you so desire.

When it's morning here, it's the opposite in China where the infected bot machines live that send out spam to the world.. ;)

They used to start new threads for their spam, but this AM, I found that they are starting to add posts to existing threads, too.

Yeah, one of the ones I reported was at the end of a thread that was 3 years old.

Just keep reporting them and we'll remove them. 'Bout all we can do because it will never stop.

This is an important topic. If we ignore these SPAM-bots then the forum will degrade.

Lately, most originate from India when I trace them. But as Doug and others say, please report them and don't reply.

I don't think they are bots. When you register with the forum you cannot post automatically, you have to wait for an approval of your registration. Bots don't/can't do that, only people can. At least to the best of my knowledge.

As long as Peter has the registration set up to prevent an automated registration, you're correct. Most websites have a prompt where you have to manually enter a code, can't remember if I had to do that here, but other sites I have, and an autobot can't enter the code as it has to be copied exactly as it's displayed above the field to type it in.

Due to the time difference, i am not so delighted to find these nasties  when i start my day early in France lurking in CT :)
At least i know how to to react now ( BTW apart the stupid advertising, they post also weird text with some poetic flavor some time...)
