yes it is! 2 head is better than one...Much more better if there's another head in the middle.... :thumb:
It appears to have grabbed a bit of the shoulder as well, or maybe I'm just seeing things. I can't tell if it's legit, but I'd be pumped if I found it. As they say in little league... good eye, good eye!
Nothing at Coneca, Coppercoins or Lincoln cent resource. This coin looks good, though. Discovery piece?
This is the coin, with the two-headed Lincoln on it. BTW, thank you all so much for all your input. I'm still new to the computer, so please bear with me.
Very odd, and definitely worth getting checked out. Maybe it's supposed to be John Wilkes Booth creeping up behind him? I guess the guys at The Mint do have a cents of humor.
You just reminds me of assasination of Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865 at theater while he and his wife watching at balcony,Here's the Photograph of skull break of Lincoln Head shot at the back of the head of assasin name John Wilkes Booth. Two heads better than ONE!
You can't let anyone else have just a small moment of glory, can you, redwin? IMO, your getting to be a real jerk with your coin.
I remember it being on Billy Crawford's website, Die Variety News, a few years back, but I don't think the site is still running. Chris
This one has some definite possibilities and I would suggest contacting John Wexler for his opinion on it. You can get his email from here: http://doubleddie.com/1801.html Scroll down to the very bottom, his email and snail mail is there. I think his valued insight would be good.
Maybe it's supposed to be John Wilkes Booth creeping up behind him? Read more: http://www.cointalk.com/t214258/#ixzz27avjtLDN No intention of Hijacking the Thread, But just simple reply to our member who mentioned the name of Jonh Wilkes Booth, The assasin from Maryland an stage actor, But sometimes we need to ADD on an HISTORICAL EVENTS. And some member might ask WHO is JOHN WILKES BOOTH too? And I think his discovery of a Ghost or Two heads of Lincoln Sitting on Memorial building is a LEGITIMATE ONE too. 1993 Lincoln cents but much better if it is Three One in the Middle.
Your coin has absolutely NOTHING to do with the historical event in question. Do you really think all of us fools? I do not recall seeing it, so may I ask if you remember any specifics? Beyond the artifact in question, to my poor eyes it looks as if the statue is rather closely doubled, with secondary head and shoulders visible south of the primary. With such small images it is tough to tell for sure, but everything seems to match up.
This may be a doubled die coin but hard to say for sure by just looking at the photos. I have seen a few similar to this one that turned out to be a blister in the copper plating. sometimes a bump in the copper plating can appear so as to make coins appear to be things they aren't. I think this coin would probably be worth having someone to take a look at it.
