up until today i only owned canadian bullion coins that fit into a 38mm airtight. today my ase showed up and weighed in right, but is too large for airtight. is this right? and why are they bigger...are they thinner? thanks
I think I remember reading that yes the ASE is slightly larger but thinner than the Maple, but I'm not sure so I too shall wait for a definitive answer.
This is why they make airtights in different sizes. Not all 1oz bullion coins and rounds are the same size.
Just going by what I found online... http://www.air-tites.com/Air-Tite_Ring_Type_Coin_Holders_1.htm I remove my ASE and ML bullion from the airtite's and stack them in tubes.
Britannias and ASEs fit into the same size airtites. I know nobody asked, but I thought it was somewhat relevant to the conversation.
why cant i trim down the foam ring with a razer to fit the coin in the 38mm airtight? i cant see buying 10 airtights for 8 bucks when i have only 1 ase.
you could do that but it may not fit right. you can only buy them in a 10 pack? its only 8.00 for the 10 pack even if you only use one you may need more eventually
i feel you, and that makes sense. the ase fits in the 38mm a/t, but the ring is in my way. wheres the best deal online for a 40mm black foam ring a/t?
They probably do get marked up dropping them in the tubes, but I don't care. Don't be me wrong, these are not proofs that I'm removing from airtites, they are just plain old ASE and ML bullion. In my eyes there is nothing special about them expect the one ounce of silver. I just choose to purchase my one ounce silver bullion in ASE and ML instead of some random silver rounds. I'm going for quantity, not quality, lol... To each their own. It's just what works for me. If you want to keep them nice I don't see anything wrong with putting them in a airtites.
http://www.mintproducts.com/air-tite-coin-holders.html http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/product/air-tite-holder-ring-style-40mm.html you would have to order a few more things to make shipping worthwhile though..
Beginner or not there is nothing wrong with that. It's what ever you enjoy. I also like the sound a stack of ASE makes when playing around with them on the table and in my hands. I can't do that when they are in airtites, lol... Have fun and enjoy, that's really what it's all about.
