i normally do coins but i would like to know if star notes are found in circulation so i can keep an eye open? are they on all years? or only certain ones? if there is a thread could someone please direct me on how to find it. advice appreciated. ty
While I don't "strap search", I go through a lot of cash. Getting my change back at a restaurant, yard sales, flea markets, auctions, etc. I've looked at every bill handed to me for the past year. I've only found one star note, and it was in poor condition.
Do you understand what they are? The total production of star notes, is less tan 1/2% of the total production of any series. They are printed first , and then inserted, as needed during the regular production of regular notes of any series. Each reserve bank will not have a replacement note. They also will be printed at Washington and at Dallas printing shops. So, you are not limited to one type. Get a book on currency. The one that I used most is on Small size currency. Get the book "Standard Guide to Small-Size U. S. Paper Money from 1928 to Date", by John Schwartz & Scott Linquist. :yes:I hope this helps. Also, go to your bank and ask the teller you deal with, to look for some, and save them for you. I have also found out that a lot of ATM's will dish out many Stars. When you find some they will have a dark pen mark on the edge, that doesn't go into the design.
Wow, seems like you handle more cash than I do, I've gotten 3 dollar stars, and a 10 dollar star, only have one star, spent the rest, it's a 0000something0 *
