That's one thing I wish I had some of. Budget isn't large enough and there are other coins I want more.
Maybe if silver dips back below $30 again I'll get some Mexican silver.

In the early 1980s, before the AGE's came out in 1986, you didn't have much of a choice with new 1 ounce gold coins - South Africa had the kruggerand, but then with the apartheid boycotts those dried up. Mexico stepped up to the plate, and this would become my first large sized gold coin - my first gold coin coincidentally is a Mexico 2 Pesos from 1945.

With the ubiquitous Angel of Liberty, well known from the 50 Peso coins. Unfortunately it is now somewhat prohibitive to buy Mexican gold because of the internal taxes in Mexico.

One of the cool things with Mexican gold, if you want old coins you can buy 100+ year old coins for melt:

Aww man, now I gotta get mine out and take some pictures. I love the 1950 Railroad 5 pesos, the 1911-1914 caballito variety. Got 4 Rolls of 1947-1948 Cuauhtemocs that I love dearly, balance scale onzas. The one year issue 1921 2 pesos winged liberty. I also got a thing for the cap and ray 10 centavos thru 50 centavos. Not to be forgotten, I dig all Libertads!! :)

Here is my only Nice Mexican coin, most of my others are just coins bought for bullion.

But then again this one was bought for bullion too, just had to pay a bit of a premium for it.

I like these .720 pesos; they're fairly cheap and nice-looking. The 10% silver one is pretty interesting too if only for the design. I don't even know why they bothered putting silver in if it was only 10%, but hey.

I also have a gold two peso coin, but it's so small I can't take a decent picture without blur. It's the only gold I have, in fact.

I've got a small mexican collection. Its hard to come by nice examples. Maybe it's where I live but I don't see much at shows either.

I have no real direction to the collection other than attractive MS type coins of the country. They are usually too scarce to chase and I just stay alert when a nice one surfaces.

Funny thing is....its cheaper to buy Mexican silver and gold coins in US than it is in Mexico.
