What took you so long?? I made that decision a long time ago. I'm not going to waste my time with someone who calls me and others here "stupid" over and over and over. I don't understand why anyone asking for help from others with tons of knowledge and experience would berate those that want to help him. I, for one, don't have the time or the desire to try to help anymore after being called "stupid" multiple times.
You are right. There is a space. But it's not wide enough to be a Wam. FortheKids, if you have an older penny, say 1991 old, compare the reverse to the coin in question.
Hey Merc Crazy. That 1999 WAM spacing is the widest I've ever seen. You could drive a semi through it and have room to spare on each side--------LOL. As for any additional info for , Forthekids, or Joshua M on recognizing and identifying 1998, 1999, 2000 WAMs. It takes lots and lots and lots of practice looking at these years. You'll get to know almost instantly looking at the cent in your fingertips whether it is one or not. And while in this this learning process your heart will jump when you think you've found another 1999 WAM. That's the fun of it because we've all been there many times only to prove to ourselves--nope not this time---again. You'll see the worn dies which can cause the space, tiny as it is, but it's there making you heart flutter. Also the spacing differences of the 'FG' initials, again due to die variations and wear and tear, can start you shaking. So enjoy it. Use a nice 10X loupe or scope to help you easily verify your findings without going blind. But the 'G' in the initials is the keY. That's what I look for first. All told I've 12 98WAM's, 11 2000WAMs, and two 99 WAMS ONE BEING ms65 red found in 2009. They're much scacer now. Much good luck. zeke
Merc Thanks again for the pics. The crystal clear pic certainly leaves no doubt. Know if I an only find the 98 Wam that I am missing. Derek
Zeke your are right about the hear pounding. When I first found this I was very excited. Then I went through doubting stage. When I first posted the low quality pic everyone thought it wasn't a WAM but thanks to Merc photograghing talents I am releaved to know it is a WAM. Let the hunt continue. Derek
I thought I would update this thread. I sold this coin on Ebay a few months ago and I heard back from the buyer. He had it graded. It came back MS62. I think he got a great deal on this coin. Derek
I found this in my garage, under a tool box so it's in pretty rough shape. But I'm wondering if it's a WAM and even with the damage, is it worth anything ?
Not really an expert on WAM's...seen a few. This one is a real tough call in my opinion. I actually have a 99 in my hand right now and they look the same to me. I hope it IS a WAM though. Good luck!
Looks like a WAM to me. Shame about the condition it's in. It still might have some value although I couldn't give an estimate.
It is a WAM. The " G " is the tipoff again. Spacing is good between the " A and the M and the m and the E " It's really worn on both sides so keep it for posterity, the kids and grandkids. Good eye. zeke
