Why isn't my $81.00 40% Silver Selling?

I don't think you do or you would understand the concept of private ownership for public use and as such your freedom of speech rights do not apply.

It's kind of like when you go to a bar. It's titled as private property for public use. Which means, you do not have the "right" to be on the premises, but a privilege to be there, which can be revoked at anytime by the property owner, or their agents.

There are usually classes with numbers higher than 101, and for a reason.

I don't see too many people buying that much on Ebay or shelling out that type of money on silver. On the other hand, If you broke them down into smaller lots, you would get bids. I would a lot of smaller lots. People will generally bid spot price or higher. They may just want a few 40%ers. I bought two on Ebay and paid spot including shipping costs. It won't cost that much for shipping and insurance either. You can probably put a stamp on two 40%ers. I just listed my first silver auction on Ebay. I just wanted to see how much I could get over spot for my best roosie roll finds and threw in a couple Mercury dimes out of a junk bin in which I already have those dates. I listed the auction here on Coin Talk. I got a bid almost immediately, at the beginning of the six day auction. This was a small auction though. If you listed a few at a time, you will get bids.

 

Well, as far as the OP's auction.. it ended with 2 bids and sold for $820.00

I also took political science in college. I believe freedom of speech has to do with speaking out about the government, something you couldn't do in other countries in the past nor now. Most forums don't allow forms of spam and since they paid for the site, it is their right to make the rules of conduct. There is a section for Ebay auctions and yes people look there. I just sent some silver dimes to a forum member. I probably should have tried selling them directly on the forum first before resorting to Ebay but wasn't entirely sure what to charge for them, if I can get over melt for them. The roosies are nice but as common as dirt.

My math was off in my original post but they got a good deal especially on the mint sets and Ikes.

 

Yes, this is true but why it has to be so confined is beyond me. I don't publicly buy, sell or trade anything on this forum so it is really no big deal for me. I do, however, feel bad for those who try to get help but are impeded by the "system".

As far as I can tell, any one of us except the OP could have posted a direct link to the auction even while it was still active.

You've made quite a few enemies on this forum in the past, don't make another by treating a seasoned member like they just joined yesterday and giving them a "my way or the highway" scenario.

Yes, but everyone has to start somewhere and with Political Science it starts at 101.

Of course not. But prices fluctuate on eBay to the extend that most 90% silver lots sell for melt or slighlty above (all the junk silver I've sold lately has realized approximately 10% to 30% over melt); I haven't sold much 40% stuff, so I have no real history on this. However, from reading earlier posts and looking at completed eBay auctions, the concensus appears to be 40% silver almost always sells below melt. The OP received about ninety percent of melt value, so I think he did well for the stuff he was selling.

Thanks for all the discussion! I am pleased with the price I got. I paid $525.00 of the lot so it worked out great. The silver dollars weren't included though, only in BIN

 

Right, my math was off. For some reason I was calculating 4 halves in a dollar since there is only 2 halves in a dollar. Maybe I was thinking quarters. They still got a good deal since the Ikes and mint sets are not junk.
