Certified Acceptance Corporation Lovingly referred to as Green Beaned coins - coins examined by CAC and approved for the Slab's stated grade - or - "solid for the grade". Many coins that have been CAC'd, sell for substantially more.
Old habits are hard to kick eh? You have been tearing it up with NEWPs! Congrats! By the way, I saw a dealer has two 1916-S broadstuck dimes. One XF40 and one MS63 both in NGC holders though.
"how much was that ?"..................seriously ?....................... It was more than I wanted to spend and over $500 more than it sold at auction when it last crossed the block. Its a coin that is in all seriousness - a once in a life time find. I have never seen another as nice looking - it takes your breath away when you first look at it.
How much is irrelevant. That coin has no price tag IMHO. I know how bland some auction house images can be and I can tell that that coin would be a monster in hand. Coins like that just don't come around often. Just like Mike's 97-S half. That thing look semi-pl in the auction photo, but in hand the PL just popped out at you. Such a gorgeous coin. maybe someday i will see that 95 when he comes back up the coast line.
LP is correct - its irrelevant - but I was mistaken - I paid $1500 over Grey Sheet - I'm going to send it in to PCGS for regrade - Secure Holder - and hope for a 65+ as I don't think they'll bump it much higher than that. I have found many 64's that belonged in 65 holders and have crossed them as such - the last one came back 65+.
I don't think any does. I think that someone either attempted it or ANACS got it wrong. Though it definitely looks like acid to me too. I guess you can always experiment with some junk coins and hope for the best.
