I got these photos (of the same coin, a PR65 Shield Nickel) back from PCGS last week. They are actually slightly different (though they do look very similar). I can usually quickly pick a favorite between a choice of two, but I struggled with which one to pick as a master image (for the PCGS database). Ultimately I picked the top image as the master, due to easier to read (see) devices and a brighter yellow color in the interior of the shield (which gave a kick to the contrast). But I also like the softer look of the 2nd alternate photo, a bit more pleasing to the eye, and perhaps slightly better color. Tough decision. At least I can keep both versions in my personal database.
A couple just back from grading. The 1970-S was picked up raw from eBay. I was a little concerned that PCGS may have doubts, but for $7.50 I couldn't pass it up. It graded PR68RB The second one I picked up from Great Collections. It is an SMS Lincoln and was in an NGC MS65RB slab. I cracked it out and sent it in raw. PCGS graded it SP67BN.
I buy through Legend or through Heritage. I wasn't going to pick up any 66's and just wait for the 67's to roll around but I figure these would be a good springboard. There's a 1910 PR67DCam coming in October... almost bought the 67CA yesterday - lucky I didn't!!!!
STUNNING coins everyone, and I mean that in caps ! Nothing much here, but this one should be coming in the mail today.... I'm hoping the colors are stronger, however the more I look at the picture the more I think this is how it'll look in-hand. Still 1888 is a lucky date and one that I didn't have before!
I think I overpaid for this one but it'll go nicely with my Kennedy. 1923 Peace Dollar. Or is it a 1928? Prolly not...............
