I realize that many of you don't have lives based on the number of posts you have acquired. It was a simple question that many of you take way to seriously. You know what? Don't comment then. I see posts all the time and don't feel the need to be negative. I guess when you get old and have no social life this is what you turn into. I dread getting older if that's what i have to look forward to. I guess i win my own contest by default!!!

As you get older, you will learn that there are many things more meaningful than keeping up with the Joneses, one-upmanship and my dog is smarter than your dog.

I don't recall anyone calling you names, but if these comments are any indication of what the younger generation is all about, then the world in your old age is definitely in for a lot of trouble.

I'm not old (at all), and I still wouldn't go around telling folks how much money I have. I will say its not nearly as much as you, but what I have is worth more than your face value. Also I wouldn't go around cleaning coins, or saying I do,without telling folks if your joking or not. That's what :D and :p are for. This is anonymous internet, not a video chat where tone and facial expression are present.

Based on 60% of the people I know (was higher before I graduated high school), that's an understatement. The other 40% I have classes with at college, and some of them are questionable.

Eh, old grouchy edited~ rules have always said this about the younger generation. This was said about them as well when they were young. OTOH, youngsters always seem to "know everything" and are always too stupid to talk less and listen more. :)

I am in "the middle", so not choosing sides. I am, though, still young enough to remember older collectors complaining loudly about MY generation of youngsters, and how we were going to ruin the hobby. I don't think I have ruined it yet.

I agree with you Lincolncent and your advice to the OP. Some people, even on the internet, get jumpy about discussing how much they have in their collection. I don't OP, but I don't count it and don't really collect paper that much. All I have is some horse blankets, gold certs, some weird broken bank notes, and a few pieces of colonial currency. I am sure your face value is higher than mine. I probably have you beat in the number of follis, denari, or drachms in your collection though. :D

If your refering to me, your missing the point. Do you see all these coin thefts I post in the news? This is a very serious matter. Forget the coins. People who fall into this trap can end up dead in a push in robbery.
    Variations of this have been:

    Post your rarest coin
    Post your most expensive coin
    Post your largest coin set
    Post your oldest coin
where do you store your coins
How many coins are in your house
    etc.

People should not be lead into the trap of posting things like this. Its not personal. It is a common trap that people post without meaning to be malicious, but the result can be nothing short of devastating.

Yes, yes I find myself thinking over formulations and in process of changing my writings again in ongoing repetitions never seeming to end, English is still troublesome for me.

English is known for being one of the most complicated languages in the world so I am glad I was able to be of some help to you.

Yes, that is quite annoying. It also attests to the quality of the educational system as a whole.

As you type, if a squiggly red line appears beneath what you have typed, you've spelled it wrong.
Some words, such as your (possessive) and you're (a contraction of you are),
will not appear as misspelled, so be sure to use them right.

There is nothing complicated about it if people weren't so lazy and had the desire to learn.

Yew can use sum words incorrectly that even Spellcheck won't catch.

I was mostly referring to people whose first language is not English. Goldmark is from Germany, hence I believe it is safe to assume that he is learning it as a second or third language. As far as people whose first language is English, yes, you are correct. The texting mentality has not done this country any favors nor have those who scoff at people who attempt to correct poorly written English.

Yes, I was speaking in terms of those who were born and raised in the US. As for Goldmark, he uses our language better than some of the people on these forums.
