What's post count got to do with it? Anybody can build a meaningless high post count. What's your post count up to?

Other way around. He says the OP was sent the picture by the seller that he bought the coin from. He bought it, cracked it out of a problem slab, and listed it. I guess.
This is interesting and I too will be following along.

Stop now! This thread is getting nowhere fast. Closure is imminent if any of this attitude continues. Time outs are boring .

Could you recap again? All I got out of this thread is suspicious CC members with not much proof of anything, a claim of stolen coins then no basis in fact. In the end, all it looks like is rum_n_cola used a pic he shouldn't have. Just to make sure I will visit the link to CC again but in my mind this thread looks haphazardly started.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. Maybe someone can clear up this diatribe of a post for us readers who think it was a "boy calling wolf" thread. Looks to me like more than one person over on coin community forum is a bit paranoid. All I can tell is rum_n_cola used someone else's pic. Did I miss something?

Best I can tell, rum_n_cola is still saying the coin is his. The Ebay seller also claims to own it.

There is a LOT more to this drama than that. Here is a recap of this weeks episode of "As the coin turns"

    1. A guy goes onto CC asking for information about a VERY rare 1858 IHC, one that is so rare everyone there was in agreement that it needed to be sent to the one lone person in the world (according to them) who could verify it, and then once it was verified it needed to be sent to a grading company.

    2. That same day, the exact same coin gets posted for sale.

    3. The OP of this thread replies to that thread that he has now seen the coin on ebay and was a bit miffed that the person offering it for sale wouldn't have given everyone at CC a heads up that it was for sale. He essentially said it was kind of a douche move.

    4. The OP of THAT thread (the one originally asking for info on the super duper rare IHC) claims it is not his coin up for sale on ebay and that the pics are obviously stolen. What makes it a bit more intriguing is that the coin is for sale along with a woman's handbag (a pricey one when bought new) and a bunch of teen/young adult clothing worth no more than 100 bucks per lot. So now peoplare are wondering if perhaps this stuff has all been stolen from the same place. it is purely conjecture at this point but it gets minds racing to investigate.

    5. The ebay seller suddenly appears in the CC thread to stake claim to the coin, accuse everyone of being dirty rotten scoundrels, and gives his email address for all who wish to apologize profusely.

    5. The OP of THIS thread, along with several others in the CC thread, verify that both coins are identical, and that one person has to be lying if they are not the same person altogether. Members ask both parties to submit a picture, framing the coin with 4 paperclips.

    6. The ebay seller can't figure out how to attach a picture to a post, so he emails a member of that forum with a picture of the coin and the score of this weeks 41-14 Alabama vs. Michigan score written underneath. The picture is incredibly crisp and appears to be unaltered or photo shopped according to all who view it there, including many who are self professed photo shop pros.

    7. The moderators at CC have taken the issue private suddenly, and are no longer "comfortable" with the dispute being handled in public for reasons unknown. the OP of that thread has not posted anything in the thread, but that may be because of the new gag order issued by the moderators there.

    8. A member here demonstrated that he was in fact able to doctor a photograph to write a word under the original photograph, questioning the legitimacy of the "proof" offered by the ebay seller.

    9. Members of the CC community have discovered that this coin was sold on Heritage slabbed as a PROBLEM coin, and has now been taken out of the slab and the seller is clearly trying to hide the fact that it has problems.

Whew......thats all this week folks. Turn in next week for the (hopeful) conclusion of "As the coin turns". I'm off to guard America's freedom by building a concrete culvert (I still haven't figured out what one has to do with the other, but as we like to say, if the culvert doesn't get built the terrorists win).

Great! Now I get it and yes it absolutely looks like the same coin. So somebody is lying and since the seller has it for sale then it looks like rum_n_cola has some explaining to do if he wants to keep his reputation intact. Fortunately for me I don't know either of the accused parties so I guess I'll move onward to something new. :D

Is it just me or is this more of an entertainment than a serious read? I mean on both Cointalk and CCF. And the only thing I got out of reading the 2 threads is a yearning for rum-soda and some bacon.

It is funny that he outted the seller dknies1947 because I actually bought a coins from that scam artist which was definitely doctored, either the coin or the pic... Pics looked great, once I recieved the coin there was a MASSIVE spot on Liberty's cheek which of course "Donna" claimed to have no knowledge of and was "appaled" that I would accuse her of doctoring anything... Well pics don't lie and the proof is in the pudding... Take a look at the pictures and see for yourself... After much arguing she agreed to a refund and charged me like $85 as a "restocking fee" which is total BS.

dknies1947 is a total scam artist and is probably the one doctoring the coin/pictures. Fair warning to all.
