i know it is an ex jewlery piece but i paid melt for it and got it from my favorite 87 year old coin dealer 1850 O gold dollar mintage of 14k and read there are probably only a few hundred left today
Here's mine: 1885 CC S$1 NGC MS65* Only 228,000 minted. Unfortunately they are fairly common in Unc these days for such a low number.
My lowest mintage US Mint made coin is the 1995-D BU Olympics Cycling Silver Dollar, with 19,662 made. My lowest mintage coin made from another mint is the 2012 Daniel Carr 20 Ameros one ounce silver Winged Liberty, with just 378 made.
I used to have a 1836 reeded edge bust half with a mintage of 1200. Hard to beat that with a circulating coin. My lowest mintage coin that I currently own is an 1888 proof 50¢. The lowest circulating coin is an 1868 $1 gold (10,525 minted). The lowest circulating non-gold coin is an 1802/0 half cent (20,266 minted).
1797 Coventry token from Warwickshire D&H 312. Mintage of 48 I have pieces with lower survival, but this had the lowest original mintage. And yes that is a picture of my coin, not a representative piece. In US coins my lowest is my business strike 1885 nickel three cent piece with a mintage of 1,000
Thanks. It is PR65+DC (PCGS) + CAC. Purchased as a PR65DC. Locked in the bank for a long time for one of my kids
From a quick review of the mintage numbers listed in Coins of England and the United Kingdom, 46th edition 2011, the lowest mintage coins I own are a pair of 2005-dated, 5-pound .925 silver piedforts issued for the bicentennial of the Battle of Trafalgar and the death of Lord Nelson, just 2818 pairs.
My lowest mintage coin is a 1915 half, but it one of the most common halves available. Mintage means little to me.
Seeing as many others have posted tokens or other non circulating items, I'll include my rarest non-paper money related item. It's a Deer Creek Mercantile Co token from Indianola, PA. Edkins PA- 1397 A-100 rarity R-10 (1-4 known) unknown mintage. Hard to believe I only paid $7 for it.
