It does look as though the transaction was completed outside of ebay, an egregious violation of ebay rules.
Guess who owns paypal. Yep, ebay.
I hate to say this, but it must be said. The money is gone.
An expensive lesson lesson was learned from this.
Let this be a warning to others.

If you send payment for goods/services, paypal is supposed to cover it, from what I understand, against fraud.

The Government of Singapore is an authoritarian regime, extremely attentive to fraud, and crime in general, and is highly protective of its reputation, since such a high proportion of the national income derives from international trade.

I suggest you write a polite, comprehensive, and carefully-worded letter (NOT an email) to Singapore's Ambassador to the U.S., whoever it is, making reference to Interpol and www.ic3.gov -- you have nothing to lose. If you want me to vet the letter first, I will.

And I would follow up repeatedly, regardless of what they tell you the first few contacts; for 6 big ones, I'd go back to them 50 times. Always polite: this is a Chinese-driven culture, where you are unfailingly polite to your worst enemy. Until you ---- him.

The one thing that might help ( as long as the transaction took place within Ebay/paypal auspices is that Ebay has a commercial presence in Singapore , operating as ebay.com.sg., so they could take action against the seller in court easily enough, and Singapore laws still allow caning and other "barbaric" punishments.

I never said I was licensed as an attorney. I have; however, had experience with the small claims court process in the U.S.

How many small claims have you filed in the last year, or ever for that matter?

So you get sued in small claims and that makes you elgible to give bad legal advice.:pointnlaugh:BUncirculated Esq.

First of all there are different monetary limits for each state.

Maybe stick to what you know- geography....oh, wait a minute.

As an attorney I am not allowed to represent others in small claims court.

First off, there are only a few states with a small claims limit of $3000 or less.

Second off, your Assumption as to whether I was a plaintiff or a defendant is just that, knowledgeless Assumption.

As to your last statement about attorneys representing litigants in small claims courts, they are not barred from that at all.

You really need to get your GED, and quit playing lawyer. You are completely wrong on everything you just said. There's no hope for you, laddie.

Small Claims limits by state: http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/small-claims-suits-how-much-30031.html

Anyone can be represented by an attorney in any Small Claims court in all states. However, a court will not provide an attorney.

BU never stated which side he was on in any Small Claims case he was involved in.

Three strikes puts you out, Onecoinpony. Now hit the showers.

I can only speak for the state I reside in- Calif. " An attorney may be able to advise and assist you before or after filing your claim. You should consult an attorney if you feel it would be cost-effective to do so, considering the size of the claim and the kinds of issues involved. You can't have the attorney represent you in court."

Secondly the claims chart verifies my point that their is NOT a single $5,000 limit as BU claimed. Reading comprehension isn't your strong point. Thanks for proving my point!

I love how you guys play lawyer, and don't have a clue!

Seems to me that you and BUcirculated need to hit the showers.

I think there are some important points made in this thread on how to conduct an international transaction.

Point number one: never go outside of eBay on an eBay transaction; you lose all buyer protection.
Point number two: never buy an expensive coin outside of the country you live in unless you know the person you're dealing with.
Point number three: a seller with a high positive feedback count does not necessarily equate to an honest seller
Point number four: never believe everything you're told via email
Point number five: a lawyer won't help you much in this type of case
Point number six: be prepared to lose your money unless lady luck is smiling down on you.

I'm sure there are many more.

Your reading comprehension really isn't very good, is it Rick? I suggest you read prior posts before you stick your nose into something, and end up making not so brilliant comments.

I'm going to let you lawyer wannabe's continue to be completely wrong. You two could never, ever make it.

The thread is open for all your misinformation, please continue...

It would be a wise idea to read and comprehend desertgem's post #31 above.
