Yes that is correct about the insurance, my bad. I should have left the word insurance out and just went with the piece of mind it gives me.

To each there own, but I just feel better with them in safety deposit boxes.

I live in a older home. Unlike the bank I don't have a state of the art security or fire system.
Even if the bank gets robbed at gun point I feel my boxes will be safe.

Sure things could still happen to my safety deposit boxes, but I fell there is a much better chance of bad things happening to my ASE at home then at the bank.

I do have a CCW permit and I'm always armed myself, so good luck with that.

One of the two insurance companies that the American Philatelic Society selected in the past ten years or so, for stamp collections, WILL also insure coin collections. Can't remember its name at the moment, but I'll find out. The stamp insurance does not require a line-item inventory, and I doubt if the coin insurance does, either. That would be highly suitable for SDB coverage, with negotiable coverage for items you bring home out of the box.

But really, how much ya wanna bet it was someone she knew? The cops nailed down the theft to a half hour time frame. Someone was watching her and knew her comings and goings.

 

Well, to be honest, you can always remarry, but it takes a long time to build a good collection.

 

That is another thought that I never considered.

A friend of mind had his collection protected by his snakes. I thought that he was trying to make an asp out of me.

I am lucky tolive where there are lots of guys home at hours of the day.
12 of us watch each others home and are always looking for strangers or strange cars in our little group.
We all carry guns and know the safty of them and how to use them.
When the headlines in your local paper start reading Would be home invader shot in home you will read about less home breakins and thief.
Why would anyone let a few stop you from keeping items in your home that you paid for?
And why should i spend money to rent a SDB and have to drive into town each time i want to see my own coins.
This hobby is supose to be fun and relaxing and how is that possible when i have to view my many items in a small space i pay for in a public bank.

Carrying a firearm is a right that many died for so you could have that right.
USE IT.

One of your buddies is the most likely person to steal your coins. It will then be very entertaining to see you'all using all those guns on each other with such expertise that barely a wall will be standing in the house. New Yorkers eat up such stories on the 6 o'clock news. It inspires our would be 16 year old gansta's.

 

Guns solve everything
