    it may have been cleaned in the early 80s at the latest. notice the reverse damage. it also has a large die crack running from the last S in STATES through OF and AMERICA, and into the rim. what would you grade it and how would you price it?     It looks like it might have a damaged reverse above the mintmark. Also, why would you state it might have been cleaned in the '80s at the latest?

    I was wondering the same thing... could have been cleaned as late as 2012.

    because the 2x2 i pulled it out of was dated 83 and had rusty staples and faded ink. it was yellowed.

    i bought them in an old lot that i believe was dealer stock. most of it was "graded" and priced on the 2x2.

    Darn... I thought maybe you had a more scientific approach to determining cleaning dates. Oh well...

    i wrote note the obverse damage, brain fart, i meant the reverse damage youre talking about. editing that now.
