    Good evening,

How wonderful are these pieces. I just fell in love with it when I got it in my hands. The problem is I dont have a clue how to find out what era it´s from or even value.

If anyone has an idea it would be most welcome

It weighs 1 oz and some of these are worth big bucks:)

It's not a die cap. It is completely normal for these coins to be cup shaped because of the method used to strike them.

More accurately, they were cast, with punches added later representing various banks and assayers. This type is colloquially called "boat" sycee, and was in use during the Qing dynasty, late 18th through early 20th century AD. Gold ones are much scarcer than silver. I'll try to look it up today, if it's in the BMC catalog.

What is the weight? The punches are similar to what is likely a larger specimen that sold last September in Heritage 3015, lot 23882 for $4k. Unfortunately, that lot was inadequately cataloged. The BMC catalog only covers the silver sycee. The only similar specimen on Zeno is the Heritage piece.

So that's the edge of my experience with these. I would recommend you contact Joe Lang, who works for Steve Album.
