so i sold a type 2 SBA on ebay yesterday morning, and the buyer lived about 15 mins away. i offer local pick up, and he takes me up on it. he loves the coin and left me good feedback as soon as he got home thinking the funds would be released right away. nope. i called paypal this morning to find out why they were not there, and was told that because he had already left positive feedback, no problem. nothing for three hours and i call back to be told "no, the first agent was wrong. your funds cant be released until the 13th of next month because you didnt supply a tracking #". on a local pick up. that he already left feedback on. seems to me like this mechanism is broken. how can you offer a local pick, yet supply a tracking #? is there anyway he could release them through paypal? anyone else had this problem?

why not just accept cash if he's picking it up from you?

Why didn't you have them pay you in person?

Just make up a tracking number and enter it on eBay/PayPal.

What you could do in the future if you offer local pick up, is get a tracking label from the post office, and use the tracking number on that to meet the requirement.

PayPal's excuse is ridiculous IMO, and I agree that you shouldn't have to provide a tracking # if you're providing local pick up.

    He can't.

That violates eBay's policy about the transaction outside of eBay, and eBay/PayPal could accuse the OP of attempting to avoid eBay/PayPal fees.

the tracking works by it reading as delivered, a fake # would never say delivered.

Either or, it's still ridiculous when you offer local pick up to have to provide a tracking number.

But, as I suggested, you can grab a handful of tracking labels at the post office, and just enter a tracking number from one of them, then toss it out afterwards.

You couldn't be more wrong! If at his house, I would suggest he stop doing this for security reasons.

thanks for the concern. i deal on craigslist all the time, have been for years. i never meet people at my house. always in a mcdonalds or starbucks. if they are not willing to do that, @#$% em.

would that work though? i thought it would have to say delivered to clear funds?

the ironic thing is that i could have snail mailed it yesterday, and he would have gotten it today. i would have had my funds.

I'm confused. So these funds are in your account but paypal isn't letting you withdraw them?
As far as I know, anything I've ever sold, the funds are in my account as soon as the buyer pays, and I can withdraw them immediately. I think. Maybe I've never tried to do so immediately.

And, what if FleaBay checks the tracking # online, and the USPS has no record of that number? Do you think FleaBay will cancel or suspend his account?

send him a letter thanking him for his purchase with a tracking number :) You should still be able to enter a tracking number manually.

yes. they are pending delivery on a product that was picked up by a buyer that has already left positive feedback in which he stated he picked it up and loved it. second from the top. http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=riff1060&ftab=AllFeedback
