I picked up a handful of French Indochina 10 cent pieces (all dated 1937) for just about melt value at a coin club meeting recently. I also grabbed 4x 90% silver 50 cent pieces, 2 minor Swedish silvers, and a Norwegian 2 ore:

Nice looking coin, but I do not understand why it costs 500$.

Attractive piece, and a relatively low mintage (2,500 or so). By the way, the name of that currency unit is Togrog (or tugrik or tögrög). The year before they issued the Ural Owl piece - a good design too, but of course the hedgehog is much cuter.

Well, I do not collect Mongolian coins, and am not really fond of surcharged pieces that are made solely for collectors. But that little dude ... no, I will still not buy it. :)

Holy COW!!! They think they want $500+ dollars for that "coin". They are off their rockers.

Pillaging seems to still be the common motivation in Mongolia.

 I really like the Hedgehog, but $500.... They should hve made it out of gold for that price.

Unlikely they will use gold you need to make it at least 1/4 oz to generate any interest since not many would small 1/10 or 1/25 oz gold coin for $500. With quarter oz coin they will be looking at a mediocre $100 vs $450 profit, hence silver commemorative issues have exploded past couple years.

This is like the Aussie red back spider 2006 $1 proof coin. Prices have been going up and up. I have 3 proof spiders which i got for $280 each a while ago and now they easily fetch 1.2k!
I didnt expect for them to go that high but they did an the more i watch them on ebay the higher they get same as the hedgehog .. Mine was $390. Saw a couple go above $550 a few times. I am guessing when they start desapearing from ebay prices wil go higher just like the spider.

This is nothing like the Black Widow Coin. That coin has carried its price on the market and, as a matter of fact, surprised everyone with its very strong demand. THIS is just gauging and will never have the demand that the Black Widow does,

Market value increase says other wise but we shall wait and see :)
Unless you are certain about the future? I know i am not but so far i have done the right thing about both coins.
