Had these all summer, finally got around to imaging them. I'd love it if everyone would help me out with their opinions on grade! Thanks...
Very nice. It's been a while since I graded any IHCs but here goes. 1867 XF-45 1871 F-15 1872 F-15 1881 AU-50 1886 AU-53 1894 AU-50
Thanks Kirk! I think I'd agree with you (maybe the 1867 as an XF40?) - and I'm hoping that the last three go a bit higher after a bit of conservation (not me, just in case you were wondering...NCS.)
I've been told that I am overly strict before, I just grade based on what grade I would buy a coin for. It is the reason that I disagree with TPGs so often.
I'm the same, I'm hard even on coins I own. Someone could give mine a higher grade and then I nitpick and lower it a few notches.
I think the way I try to cover this is by giving a combo grade, like F/VF...but then I feel that my grading could use some improvement...
Nice, circulated IHC's. Most of them need an acetone bath, however. I'd do it myself and not waste money on NCS. Lance.
I've tried acetone before and had mixed results - this time, since I was going to send them in anyway, I thought I'd just let them take care of it (since they're mostly higher value coins.) I do need to buy some of Thad's product and try it out.
Nice batch - the 1867 I would put in the Vf30 or so range, just can't go xf with the ribbon worn into the lower air curl. 1871 and 1872 are vf20 in my book. The other 3 look to be in the lower AU range. Just my opinion.
I'll take the 1871 and 1872 being VF any day of the week in exchange for a bump down on that 1867...lol...thanks for the input!
