I found this beautiful M Theresia Thaler 1780 re-struck in an antiquities market this week. Is it possible that someone with knowledge in regards to variants of this coin can help me identify where it was minted and approximate time period? The seller had no idea. I tried to capture her well, but might have failed her beauty.

All I know is her daughter lost her head. Literally. That was Marie Antoinette.

Maria Theresa crowns have been minted at more than a dozen world mints since the original issue of 1780, so unless there's distinct die varieties, there's no way to identify the source. They are a favorite coin to hoard in the Middle East.

True. But Maria Theresia was a little more than just Marie Antoinette's mother. ;)
