Hi I recently recieved a coin that was sent USPS 1st class with insurance and signature delivery. The coin was 450 or so. The amount show to ship was $6.64 on the label. How is this possible???? I've ran through all the possible ways to come up with that amount and can't figure it. Is there a discount I'm not considering. I am just curious as I ship a number of items. Thank you in advance !!!

There are several possibilities at work here. Depending on what pay to ship method was used (ie: paypal, RR Donelley, Post Office, USPS website), the prices for different aspects of shipping is different because of certain discounted rates. Another thing to consider is the price to ship from point A to point B. It fluctuates daily to take into account fueling costs, cost of operating a truck/airplane and so on. Theoretically, the price to ship from A-B will not be the same as shipping from B-A (same towns/cities).

It could have been the $4.95 if it fits it ships, then add for the signature and insurance.

The seller only insured it for $199 , here is what my charges look like for a made up shipment

The closest you can get using the ebay lable & insurance is $6.54 , with a 5 oz package 1st class, sig conf. & only $199 of insurance as well.

When I ship one coin first class in a 6" x 9" bubble mailer (with the coin in a mylar flip, inserted into a coin enevelope and sandwiched between single wall cardboard) and print my shipping label through eBay/PayPal, the cost for this three ounce package is $1.64, just as Bedford shows. Delivery confirmation is free... insurance and signature confirmation bring the total to $6.64.
