I found this 1954 Wheat penny in a huge pile of wheat pennies! I don't think it's worth anything; it is in bad shape and looks sort of frankstein-ish, but was wondering if anyone could tell me what is up with it, or how it got like this, it could make for an interesting story at least. The back is where you can really tell it's strange because it has part of the Lincoln Memorial. It also has a "D" mint mark if that helps. Thanks for any help! :)

frankenstein is a good word for this. someone has punched pieces out of one coin and fitted them into another. WHY? who knows, but that's what it is. post mint damage.

Well, I never saw that before, PMD for sure, but because of the uniqueness, you still might be able to get a few bucks for it on EBAY.

Similar coins have been posted in the past, so they are not unique. The problem with locating the corresponding thread it that most newbies use titles like "Help" and "What is this?". So it's hard to find the actual thread.

These can be sold as novelties, the same as coin rings and crafts but not as collectible coins.
