Where did you see that scale?

What I've seen that's generally accepted for MS coins:

    60-62 SELECT
    63-64 CHOICE
    65+ GEM

Nonetheless, I stick by my definition of BU = original, brilliant, bright, untoned mint state luster. Why else would the term "brilliant" be used?

Look, I have seen it used in that context many times. If you don't agree that's fine. I honestly don't care and I'm not going to argue with you about it. It's a non-specific and frankly inaccurate way of categorizing MS grades just like the system you listed above.

I personally don't even use "BU" myself anyway. You can define it anyway you'd like.

Another woody that just came in the mail recently. Only the reverse is "woodified", which is interesting as well. It's in an ANACS Old Soap bar slab MS63 RB.

I apologize about the poor quality of the photos; the coin actually exhibits much more detail, luster, and redness than the pictures show. My photography skills just suck, sadly enough lol

Ha, if you saw the coin in hand, then you'd understand. The only saving grace is all the photo editing to try and make it look like how it does in real life. But take it outside of the slab, and I'm good to go. ;)

I never use post image manipulation.....lighting is the key to not needed it IMO. It's basically impossible to take a pic that matches what you see in hand, don't sweat it so much.

I picked up this one on ebay for $15. Seller's pictures were large and looked decent (first images) but the coin turned out a little nicer in hand (more like the second images).

    rlm,
You deserve it more than I do. PM me your postal address and I'll send it to you.

You bid on it because you wanted it. You keep it and enjoy!

BTW, I don't think it is just your pictures, but that looks like a 50 to me.

Bought this one raw and set it to ANACS at the show.

This one just made it home for the first time. 1927 Woody reverse. It's hard to tell by these pictures but it has beautiful burgandy toning.

That one is really nice. The reverse couples nicely with the wild reverse! :thumb:

Here's a really nice older date woody lincoln...lots of luster and really nice wood grain toning. I'm really liking the reverse! Picked it up off the 'bay for a little over $14 (shipping included). Seller's pics below:
