Testing the new lighting toy

    So - I just want to ask opinions about the photographs using this new domed magnifying glass i got with lights. I brought it for small coins. Which do you think are better

    Without the magnifyier and just the camera

    With no light, they are underexposed.

    With the light, they almost look like they have been plated.

    The lights need soem diffusion. If it is possible ( as I don't really visualize a "domed" magnifier ) put a small piece of tissue in front of the light and try it.

    The second one looks like it needs more light. Ring lights are good for circulated coins... But don't do UNC coins any favors.

    I tried one of those ring light attachments back in '02 or '03 I think it was. And I was very, very disappointed with the results. I ended up throwing it away.
