Boy I tell you what. Try reading his list description of "Toning."

Wow, that is terrible. I am actually more horrified that the slab says PL and MS 64

Coin has AU details at best, and has more problems than just the toning. At least the toning can be removed.

That is not what I would call toned. It is colored.

Sent in a report on it but not really sure it will do that much good. But being that he uses all the buzz words hope he stepped in it enough.

Actually blaming eBay is not the way to handle the problem. You will see the same thing at coin shows, flea markets and even on Craigslist. Simple fact is some people really want this type of coins just for the simple fact that they are pretty. The deceit comes in when they equate graded coins value to ungraded doctored items.

Edit to add I would have no problem with this listing at all if he were selling it at it's true value of melt or about $25.00 today.

These sellers used to bother me. Enough where I would harass them, report them, blah blah..
It will not make any difference in the end. It will continue to happen as long as people buy them.

My feelings are now that the buyers simply need to educate themselves. How can this be accomplished? I don't know the answer to that. I just can't let it get my blood pressure up anymore.

You say he is self-righteous, did you ever stop to consider that perhaps he is buying those coins that way and re-selling them ? Perhaps he really believes they are NT ?

Not that it matters really, but he certainly would not be the first to fall into that trap.

Never even crossed my mind. The wording is way to catty, and he seems to be an expert on pushing the EBAY line. He knows exactly what can be said in the description/item heading and then displays the basement slab with it showing MS 64. I know you are just playing devils advocate here, but his dude deserves no wiggle room what so ever. He is just plain bad news.

No, I don't think that is his intent. If he didn't have the smug commentary about toning, it might be the case. HE KNOWS that they are artificially toned, from the context of his advertisements in his listings, and is basically knowingly ripping off coin newbies, and less educated collectors. If it were otherwise, why the diatribe on toning and how only a third party grader can know???? His tone is clearly taunting, and there is no way he's innocently duped. He's an ANA member according to his listings, and knowingly violating their ethics (for what that is worth, as there are so many violations of ANA ethics).

Here's his exact wording, and it is pretty cleverly expressed so as to deny any complicity, but shows that he knows all too well what he's doing. This is right from HIS listings:

Pictures do a MUCH better Job than
    anyone's written Description, so?
    Let's leave it at That!

    The Pictures Shown Shows EXACTLY
what your bidding on and WILL Receive.
    No Trickery, No Special Lighting,
    No Photo Shop

    Enhancement

    An Important Note Regarding Tone!
If the coin you are looking at is toned, please continue.

A lot of discussion and debate about toning has
    been
brought to light over the years
    .

This debate is mostly centered around if the
    tone is natural or AT.

In my opinion, only a qualified grading company can qualify
the difference, that is your best avenue for assurance.

In light of all the Word & Phrase"Gimmick's" out there, I will only state the term {TONED} in my listings.
I will NEVER use the terms "Rainbow (or) Monster" Silly stuff like that!

As a Trading Partner and fellow collector
I suggest that you use your
    BEST judgement when considering
    the beauty of toned coins,
and as a wise man once told me?

"BUY THE COIN, NOT THE SLAB"

I have no doubt that some of the coins the sellers have are ATed. But how about the ones graded by NGC and PCGS? Unless the slabs are also faked, I don't see those as been ATed and he has the same statement about every coin.

Not defending the guy but just saying.
