http://www.moneyfactorystore.gov/10generations.aspx $10 generations set? I'm debating. Makes a great conversation piece, but I really find it difficult to justify it's price. I don't see the collector value w/ 3333 being released headed anywhere but down. Thoughts?
I ordered a set this morning, and have been in touch with a BEP official concerning having the backs of the notes autographed by the engravers. I hope it works out and he is able to accomplish this. I have one already, and am seeking more.
Two thoughts; a total of 3,333 is no big quantity in today's marketplace, and, the three notes with matching serial numbers will be identifiable forever, and impossible to find elsewhere. These people are clever! On the other hand, they should have done the deal for $89.95 not $149.95 IMHO.
Oh well, it is pricey, but $149.95 is the same price the SF ASE set sold for...I passed on that one, and paid the same amount for this set! But free shipping! :goof:
I went ahead and got a set. It's a really cool opportunity to own 3 generations of 10's w/ the same serial. I just hope I get a round number.
I actually think that it's a pretty cool idea with all three bills having the same serial number. I collect coins and notes because I like em and no other reason. And 3,333 units is pretty low and makes it unique, which is always nice. I'm thinking about buying one.
I wish I had the extra money laying around to get one of these sets. If it were a little cheaper it wouldn't be hard for me to part with the money.
Yeah, I have to agree with everybody else, who feel that the asking price is a bit much. That's really the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on this. It's a very nice set though. One curious question though, does the BEP have 1995 $10's just lying around? Did they print them specially for this set, using the old plates?
I think 3,333 sets is small by BEP standards. Several years back they put together a LUCKY MONEY 8.8.8 SET that included a crisp uncirculated Series 2006 $1, Series 2003A $2, and Series 2003 $5 Federal Reserve Note with (matching serial numbers) beginning with “888XXXXX”.......this set has face value of $8 and it was limited to 8,888 sets and is now sold out. So $8 face selling $48.88 (8,888 sets) compared to $30 face selling for $149.95 (3,333 sets), I'm guessing this set will also sell out. [h=3][/h]
I want to know as well, does the BEP just stash old $10's like that or what?? I'm hopping on the wagon, as soon as I can afford to.
