Due to my current financial situation, I am left no choice but to sell just about everything I have, including my coin collection.

I am done collecting for the time being. I will still be on cointalk to:

    See what people have.

    Help Newbies out.

    That is all.

Yesterday you were buying gold & silver at auctions, flea markets and yard sales... today your broke again. Talk about the "ups and downs" of life.. Detecto, you could write the book. What you need to do is buy more 10K necklaces for $1 and get that cell phone bill paid off.

Not quite "broke" just selling stuff to pay bills. I'm still keeping a little "buffer money" in case I find more gold/silver to profit good on.

I am not trying to be facetious, nor belittle you any way. I believe at least some of your financial problems are directly related to your "expertise" in coin collecting. We were all young and full of vinegar once. By all means stay but think twice before offering advice. Concentrate on your finances and your own learning about coin collecting. You have been given a lot of good advice during the time you've been here. Pay attention and follow that advice. Things will straighten out in the end, and you can get back to collecting. Good luck. I sincerely mean that.

Detecto could you post some pictures of your coins? Perhaps I could purchase a few from you with the promise that I won't sell them. When you want them back I'll sell them to you at a small markup.

Detecto, I'm sorry that you have to sell. I'm glad you're staying in the neighborhood though.:)

That's what I'm wondering? I thought you just started on this forum a couple of months ago but I can see you're at least 1yr old as far as this forum goes. edited

  13. I thought coin collecting was about finding coins.
Most i have are in change or metal detecting.
I never knew to collect coins you had to be co owner of a bank and buy all the coins you have.
Sure the most expensive coins will be those you buy but if you are as i think a real coin hunter any coin found bought or how ever you get them is done for enjoyment.
I hope i never give up the hobby because iam broke.

I have only been on cointalk for about 1 year but I have been collecting for since 2000 or 2001. I have 4 2009 UHR and I had 10 graded set of the 25th Anniversary Set. 6 sets PCGS70 and 4 PCGS69. I sold 2 of the 70set on eBay and 2 of the 69 sets on craigslist. I have 6 set left the 70 I am keeping the 69 I selling on eBay. Here are some pics of some of my coins.d

Sorry to see you have to quit Detecto. I enjoyed reading your threads. After you get your finances in order, I'm sure you'll be back at it again. With all your energy and vigor, and with a little more experience and age, you will get the hang of this. Some day I predict we will be reading your weekly column in Coin World.

Good attitude, man. Detecto, hang in there, don't freak out. I did the double-job thing just to make ends meet, myself, back when I was first married.

PS: Please don't anybody ask how long ago that was, let's just call it long ago enough. :D

Detecto, I don't know if I quite believe that you are actually going to quit. I can almost guarantee that you will find yourself wanting to go back to those auctions and check out eBay, and we know from your past record that when you see a coin you like you usually end up with it.

Anyhow, if you are truly giving up collecting I am rather disappointed. I have always liked reading your threads, and then reading the 7 page argument that usually follows. I am glad you will still be on here at least. I hope everything works out for you!
