I remember these when I was a kid: These transit tokens were first introduced in 1887 by the Rochester City and Brighton Railway, and have been used for riding the subway(yes believe it or not Rochester did have a subway), and transit buses. I think my mother would get 10 for a $1 back in the 60s.
Figure it this way Amanda, that's for one weeks bus rides too and from work or school. Today, it's a $1 each way, and you can buy monthly passes for $56.
$56 is here in Rochester, not NYC. Since I've never lived in NYC, and never used public transportation there, I have no clue on the cost of a monthly, and would take your's, and Ruben's, word for it. Never even rode the LIRR either.
So how much public transport is in Rochester?
SEPTA they run the transit system in the Philadelphia area The base cash fare for bus, trackless trolley, subway, and trolley service is $2.00. Cash is accepted for travel on all services. Exact fare must be used. Good luck riding the [h=1]Market-Frankford Line or The Broad Street Line[/h]I'll be taking the train only $1.00 for us senior folks and a heck of a lot safer
