1 box of halves yielded two 1967 40%er's. Funny thing was that the first two rolls each had a coin, the next 48 were all skunky-lol. Have one more $500 box I'll be looking through today.

    Todaty's results:
    $10 Nickles: Skunk
    $10 Dimes: Skunk
    $120 Quarters: Skunk.

There was a quarter in the reject thing on the coinstar machine. Just a normal quarter, wonder why it was there.

Two boxes of halves: Nothing. Past seven boxes have produced just one 40%er

BTW, has anyone else noticed that Strings seems to be making their wrappers out of a different paper stock? A lot tougher to unroll the ends.

Sometimes I'll get Strings rolls (usually dimes or nickels) that have a much thicker/harder paper stock, which makes them a lot harder to crack open. My guess is they used to use the thicker stock and then switched to a thinner one to save money, but some cash logistics companies still have rolls of the old stuff in their warehouses. Either that, or they offer two tiers of stock (at a higher and lower price points) to customers).

Speaking of unrolling the ends of halves, I got my first resealed box last week. The box was normal, but inside nearly all of the rolls looked like they were opened and re-crimped, and of course the box was a skunk. Between that, brand new rolls, and some of my normal banks getting rolls from random other cash companies, it's been tough trying to get a consistently similar supply lately :(

I got two out of the two boxes before these two. Seems hard to find the older silver halves I'm new to this and only been at I a short while but my big find that got me started on this was in cwr's. I may quit ordering these from the bank. Seems like a lot of time put into it and not much in return. Not to mention returning the halves to a bank can sometimes be frustrating. The banks don't seem to like them lol.

I find that CWR's yield the most silver for me, aslo. Unfortunately, I can not always find big amounts($50 and up.) However, I still enjoy ordering some boxes from banks, as I always enjoy having some coins to search through.

If you are doing it solely just for the return, Goodluck! As far as the bank taking the halves back, I make sure to have a good relationship with the tellers at the banks I go to. I first started with smaller dumps, just to get to know the tellers. I told them how I searched coins. (I always tried to be pretty friendly also) :) Then I was comfortable enough to drop any amount of coins with ease.

Nah no return just to complete my collection. I'm starting to get to where I don't need much anymore to do it... I need a 1970 and anything under 64. It's those that I'm afraid I won't find searching through these boxes. So I think I may need to add to my strategy or change it completely... Still thInking about what the best option is. I've got a good hook up on getting them but that same bank said don't bring them back here and I'll keep ordering them. Lol. So I said ok and have been going to a different bank that I have an acct with to return them. At first it was no big deal. Now it seems it's taking longer for them to give me my money back and they seem to be typing something in the computers but not sure what. One day I had one lady make me wait until she unrolled each of my rolls and dumped them through a counter! Lol! I've never been off on my count and they have my # to get a hold of me if there is a problem... So I'm not sure what the deal is... They just don't seem happy about the large amounts for some reason. Bad part is I even went to all the different branches that bank has here so I wasn't dumping huge amounts. Idk... Maybe I should open an account with another bank and split the dumplings up even more lol! :)

2 boxes of halves. 1st 3/40% and a 1964 D DDR. It looks like it might be machine doubling though. 2nd 4/40%, with a 1968d that looks exactly like a clad half. I am gonig to weigh it later today.

Use a coin counting machine. No hassle at all. You dump your halves in, get the ticket, the teller gives you the cash. I don't understand why everybody doesn't use a counting machine. I hate finding dumps at a bank where there's a TCF branch down the road with a counting machine.
I don't know what area you're in, but TCF, TD (I beleive), many credit unions, and certain branches of some banks (mostly bigger branches) have counters. Call around if you aren't sure who does.

  19. I agree! I just joined a credit union early this week that had received a coin counting machine that day!

The lady that was setting up my account wasn't too happy about it though. I guess they hate the noise. I will try to use it only once or twice a week. ;)

My main bank started telling me that they would have to send off my coin to be verified which can take up to 7 days! This was after I had been going there for months using their coin bags.

Yeah I noticed that also. Mine for the last couple of weeks or so have brown with black markings now and the used to have white with black markings. I know the brown ones are newly wrapped because I had a box last week with a few halves marked with the date 6-8-2012 , the day might be off but you get what I mean. They switched wrappers the same way sometime in the winter. The browns only last a few weeks at most. Maybe they just get different wrappers in sometime? I don't know.

Box of halves- 1 dirty 40%er a 69' in the next to last roll. :) I'm happy with that since I thought I was just having another skunk box.
