Never thought I'd buy one, but the price was right. I'll learn to love. And a contest win. Thanks Jason!
That's right Cannyn, you'll learn to love that BTW the same way I did with mine...took a while Jason's a good dude, congrats on the contest win, nobody deserves it better.
Half Dollar Type Collection. I had a PM from a CT member asking about doing a version of my digital coinboards for Type Collections. So I thought I would try my hand at doing one for my Half Dollar Types. I did leave out a number of subtypes, including the Draped Bust Small Eagle (which is just wildly expensive) and a myriad of subtypes for the Seated Liberty and Kennedy, but that's the beauty of a custom board -- you can make it fit what you collect! I didn't like the lack of "white space" especially around the edges, but with larger sized coins, it's easier to see detail. I considered doing a second version making the coins smaller, but it's definitely a catch-22, especially if you want to maintain the proper aspect ratio between the various types. If you make the larger diameter coins too small, the smaller diameter coins (like the silver Three Cent Piece) will be too tiny to discern. The grades of the coins below are: (first row) PCGS F15, PCGS VF25; (second row) PCGS AU50, PCGS PR63, NGC PF63; (third row) PCGS MS66, PCGS PR66, PCGS MS66.
Handsome looking template, in fact they're all quite nice. I think you might have something here, perhaps a little side job. I know folks who image their coins for insurance purposes, so this might be something that could innovate the way collectors inventory their pieces.
It didn't. It got AU details and a whizzed attribution. I couldn't afford a flawless example. Maybe someday.
I have not seen one like this before. It looks like a punch and die has been made by hand from steel to make this. It's like a art nouveau sculpture, and its in silver very nice.
