I have a 1952-2002 canadian silver in colour dime, that was minted into a penny....It's been stored for the last 8 years...Excellent condition... I would like to know the approx. value of this coin? I think it's one of a kind! As, I have not seen anyone else with this coin...If anyone has any information about this coin please let me know..Thank You
From what I have heard, it's probably around 7 Mill. But we need images to answer anything more definitively. Also, welcome to CT!
lol ok then you might want to buy it for 1 mill? I'll have to get it and take pic of obverse and reverse...But as I said it's totally like a dime colour and size but has 1 cent and the maple leaf on the reverse...Double dated on the obverse 1952-2002.. K.G ....I was think I would ask 1,111,111.11 as its a 11 cent coin.. haha
Not another one!?!? I'm sure the holy mother of all 11 cent pieces will rear it's ugly head here soon.
I don't get what you mean...Explain? Do you think I'm not telling you the truth? Is there that many 11 cent coins? Please let me know!
We are referring to another coin/person. You'll find out. Congrats on the coin though. Pics would be great if you can get them.
Deebar, rickmp's comment is really understood only by us seasoned forum users. Pay no mind. Anyway, bottom line is...You are going to get frustrated reading the comments that will inevitably come into this thread. Without some quality images, you do not have this coin.
No, Don't sweat it, they are not ragging on you. While 11 cent coins are some what rare, there are a lot of examples around. One of the forum members has one and he is the target of their barbs. Please post a pic and you will get a lot of input on value, etc. Welcome, Mike
Please don't get your 11 cent coin anywhere near anything gold. All high school students on both sides of the border tried the "dip the penny in mercury" trick in Chemistry class. Without a photo, it's hard to tell what you have, but it's about 99.9% that it's mercury and mercury is poison and eats gold .. wash your hands.
That's one of a kind, very nice!!! 11 cent pieces are the most rare and valuable coins!!! I have the best one. Also don't ever use PCGS or NGC as they are thieves, only use ACCUGRADE which is the best coin grader - Oh wait, sorry. I thought I was redwin for a second.
Thanks for the info.. I'll be posting the pics today...people talk about kids in school changing the penny to silver...but what I have is a dime...not a penny ...Did they make the penny smaller in 2002? Like dime size ? then maybe it might be dipped..but this appears to be dime size..also it has the maple leaf on the back with 1 cent...Anyway I will post today...I don't know why anyone would dip a dime...
That info was a joke, don't take any of it seriously. Honestly, we need pics to tell what yours is. If it's actually dime size, and has some of the design cut off, or shaped oddly, it could be legit. It's not a common occurrence for a dime planchet to make it's way into a cent collar, but it does happen. But again, pics would be the only way to tell. There's a ton of ways to mutilate a coin. Maybe somebody put it in a chemical that ate off the copper plating, leaving the steel underneath. And then trimmed it up. Probably not, but it's possible.
11 cent coin Do you have a pic of your 11 cent coin? I will try to post mine tomorrow as I could not gain access to it today...Hope I get out and do it tomorrow...Please yet me know about yours!
Lon was making a joke. It's a running joke here on CT. Please do not be offended, it's not directed at you. Another member, Redwin" has a cent struck on dime that he always posts in threads like this. He's proud of his coin. Too proud. He loves to show it off every chance he gets. Hi-jacks threads with it. Thinks it's a million dollar coin, but can't sell it. I wonder, is Redwin sick or in jail or something? He's awfully quiet lately.
