Check out your local locksmiths. I picked up an AMSEC ( made in USA, by the way)It is UL rated for fire and burglary and weighs 700lbs. Paid $1200 after tax and delivery for a $2500 safe because it had been sitting at his shop for over a year. You may run into someone needing to make a sale!!
BTW - it has been my experience that in modern times a huge safe is a worthless investment. Your only going to protect yourself from an easy theft. In todays day and age, anyone who wants to get into any safe will do so. What matters is an alarm system.
Unless of course you have a large volume of items that need to be secured. What matters is a well designed combination of physical and electronic security. The absence of either renders most attempts worthless. The physical security needs to be designed such that it will delay a burglar long enough for the authorities to respond to the alarm. Or, if I'm home, long enough for me to grab a gun, which isn't but a few seconds.
really, how much buckshot is in your wife? I was just assuming that safe was in the bedroom, but now you've added a new wrinkle.
I don't really know why I'm even going on about this. Who uses buckshot anyhow, I'd rather take some guys knee cap out with a rifle. I figure that I have nothing to worry about. I live in the middle of no where and have about 3 cars down the road a night.
Yes, only reason we found the place is because we got lost. Lol. Last robery in the area was around 45 years ago...
