I won a coin in Dutch Auction for 3000 euros. Then the 20% fees = 600 euros. Total 3600E/ now shipping via FEDEX would be 90E/ It costs me $6000Can. to buy 3600 E Now with FEDEX I would get dinged another 13% customs fees on 6000 Can. =$780/ so that coin would cost me $6780! Of course I had it shipped via post/ no value=NO customs Because of inept govt. policies our $$$ is worthless.
Unfortunately, here in NL, the normal postal service also charges customs fees for goods bought outside the EU, due to stricter regulation. Started last year. Still, its better then FedEx or dhl, because they also charge handling costs... Its really annoying that it also applies to the UK, due to their brexit decision, which is one of their worst decisions ever!
Best thing when having coins sent via registered letter/ 99% get thru customs without being checked/ thus no fees. With DHL express/ FEDEX/ UPS they present invoice to customs so we poor collectors get dinged 13 % + they have the gall to charge a "service fee" on top The delivery costs are my least concern. But you lucky people living in Europe at least have a strong euro/ our loonie is valued at .69 euros.......
I think it was HA, where I bought once, in 2019. The also added 'handling costs' from their side; so that's double the handling costs! It was not the premium but a fee for shipping and handling "certain packages, especially international, that may cost more to ship". Note; the coin I got was 95 dollar. CNG charged me 40 end of 2022, for shipping. Overall, shipping from the US is very expensive, unfortunately. Fees continue to rise, domestically again this year, so it will get more expensive internationally without a doubt. Euro was a bit stronger over a year ago, but is climbing up slowly. A bad exchange rate can make a big difference, especially if the spending is higher!
