I guess Greektown used tokens in the beginning. I do remember getting the Casino Windsor tokens personally, and I may have kept a few quarter sized ones, but they're gone now. My buddy's mother works at a church downtown, in the office, and they used to get the Greektown tokens in the offering plate from time to time. When they had a few rolls, they'd go cash them in.
I haven't found anything in a reject tube, but found a 1964 Washington quarter on the floor of a grocery store underneath a Coinstar machine. That's the only silver quarter I've found since Nov 2011. I go through several dozen rolls of quarters per month looking for silver or error coins. I've had more success finding silver dimes and a few war nickels in bank rolls, both CWR's and BWR's.

Hey Inquisitive, any chance of getting a picture of that 1929 SLQ? I'd be interested to see what it looks like after (presumably) 84 years of circulation / storage / pouring into a coin machine.
