I bought three items (three separate auctions, same seller) and the package came with only two items inside. It did have delivery confirmation on it. If the seller doesn't acknowledge me, or believe me, am I just plain "out of luck" ? I've always wondered about this scenario and it finally happened to me... ;( Both the seller and I have 100% feedback and have been on ebay for 10+ years. Thank you for any insight - I tried to find the answer on an ebay q&a to no avail...
I agree and yes, the seller if honest will believe you when he checks his inventory and discovers the item he was suppose to add to the package sitting next to him.
I would think the seller would be able to confirm your claim simply by checking his inventory to see if he still has the 3rd item. Could it be that he mailed it separately, or did the enclosed invoice list all three items? If the seller denies your claim, then you have no recourse but to file your claim with Pay Pal, if you used it, and specify non-delivery on his eBay feedback. Chris
That's happened to me a couple of times. From my experience it tends to happen more frequently with the bigger sellers as they often have employee's fulfilling the order. Anyway, in both cases (once a wrong item and once only 1 of 5 items shipped), upon notification of the seller they fully supported the resolution. As stated, I think they can simply check their stock/inventory and can trace the mistake themselves once they are alerted.
Just message him what's going on, if he's good he should admitt the mistake and just send it to you, or it could come seperately, or he could be a meany head.
Chris, the mail I sent him asked if he sent it separate, then I saw the invoice and it DID list three items...
eBay always wants buyers and sellers to resolve their issues between each other first before filing any complaints through eBay/PayPal. I would recommend contacting the seller and trying to resolve that way before anything else. It more likely was an oversight by the seller. Good luck.
I found through hard experience that the buyer does NOT win all battles. I lost one medal that went for about $110 because the seller supposedly had a delivery confirmation. A second medal was also lost in the mail and I had to accept that one also. Do not accept the line that the buyer wins all battles. It is not true.
Something like this happened to me I bought a lot of coins and the best one was missing. I contacted the seller and he said he sent it, but he will give me a refund. Of course he wanted the refund I got the lot for a steal, so he probably wanted it back since I bought it too cheap! We didn't want to give him negative feedback, because he would do that back to us. I really wanted the coins, so in the end the seller got the better deal, if what I believe happened and he tricked us. Like others said though must sellers will be fair if you contact them!
eBay sellers can't give negative feedback. They can; however, make negative comments on the positive feedback eBay forces them to leave, but that does not reduce your rating as a buyer.
Contact the seller first, if they are honest they will send the coin or refund you. If not you can always file a claim with ebay/ paypal.
Actually at one time sellers could leave buyers negative feedback, but eBay took that option away around 2008 when Ding Dong Donahoe (the ceo of eBay) took over. One of the many things , coupled with DSRs, that put many sellers in the streets. Sellers can leave negative comments as positive feedback, but if you call eBay, they will remove it, they do not allow "false positive feedback". If the seller has quite a few feedback, over 1000, and all 100%, then I would probably assume the seller made a mistake.
Unless the seller uses Delivery Confirmation. The buyer can claim "significantly not as described", but probably not a good thing to try after claiming non-delivery. You can also get those comments removed because they are in violation of eBay policy. Ebay rules say you can't leave negative comments in a positive feedback.
