Sorry, but that is environmental damage with AU detail, but it is a fake coin IMO. VDB looks wrong, MM looks wrong, the 1 and 9's look wrong, etc. See http://www.cointalk.com/t78043/
I'm no penny expert, but that coin looks really strange. The date, mm, and vdb look messed up. the 1 definitely is wrong and vdb just looks too wierd. I'm not going to say its fake, but it is funny looking.
Looks like a cast copy. VDB too big and all wrong. Year number style isn't right. 'S' doesn't look like it should. Sorry man, hope you didn't pay a bundle. Counterfeit.
Hate to add to the fury but yeah if that isn't a fake then i'm Ronald Regan. Very weak details, way incorrect looking date and VDB amond other things... No way that is real.
Definately a counterfeit - mm not in one of 4 possible positions and "B" in VDB does not have angled middle bar. SORRY!
WOW! A really poor quality counterfeit. It's so obvious that it doesn't even need to be marked 'COPY'.
Everything is so chunky on that coin, the fonts, date, even Lincoln put on a few pounds. I'm afraid to say it's a genuine counterfeit.
There's the definitive "tell," right there. Reminds me of the song, I Shot the Serif. PS: But I did not shoot the deputy, too. :smile
