I came across this $50 star note today and was wondering if it was worth anything over face value. photo (2).jpg I also have other star notes and was just wondering what makes one star note worth money while others just face value?

I like it because it's not the current "colorized" note, it's a relatively low serial. However, because of the slight tear on the bottom, it's a spender. To some, $50 is usually too much to hold on to, I would probably keep it.

Welcome to CT! Due to its condition and that ink smear at the bottom left, I would call it face value. Pleas post pics of your other notes, too. Stick around for others to chime in on this, too.

I like this one too, which each passing day I grow fonder of the small head notes. You should be able to get a little more than face for this one, the condition looks pretty good. But sometimes you can't see folds if it's not flatbed scanned. I'd put $25-30 on this one.

Series, condition, survival rate, and eye appeal all factor in to the value, if any, above face.

I would keep the 1981 $20 Minneapolis star and spend the 1996 $50 San Francisco star (because of condition & distractions).

The $20 is a keeper. Low serial # and its in good condition.

A scanner would provide much better pictures. Also a picture of the reverse would be good too. Sometimes you can see flaws that you don't see on the obverse.

I keep all stars I run across, but in the case of the $50 I would consider it a spender if you can't hold onto it. The $20 Minneapolis star is definitely a keeper, and depending on condition (Looks VF-XF), could have a premium attached. Are you looking to sell or hold onto those notes?

You'd get the best premium for the $20. I'd say maybe $24 total to the right seller.
