  5. Hmm didn't know he got the ban hammer. Too bad, he made this forum more interesting.

Geezer is over on the NGC boards

I belong to a few of the different forums. All seem to have some experts on them. And I am far from one.

CT and Coin Community seem to be the most welcoming and alot of ppl are members of both

The NGC forums I haven't been on much, but I see alot of ppl there are also on the CU boards.

But the CU forums seem to have a bunch of self-righteous, self-centered, egotistical, arrogant, pompous people who seem to love to gang up on different posters who don't seem to go along with their thinking.

They do not appear to have an error section at all. Diversity of discussion appears greater here overall.

That's really too bad. I enjoyed his posts. Is it a tempaban or a permaban? I liked his straightforward style.

    Turban......

  11. Well maybe if he spread his straightforward style over 5 consecutive posts, it would be more acceptable.

Just as long as they didn't try and put a sticker on him.

    Agree.

I despise registry sets and I have little interest in US coinage. This, I gather, is CU's strong point.

For me, Cointalk is the place to come for a relaxed, educational discussion of anything dealing with world or ancient coinage. I appreciate the amount of information I can get here without the snobbery.

Me too. I also would like to know if his ban is temp. or permanent.... I must've missed his grievous offence....

I mostly lurk on the PCGS forums and rarely post. I do prefer CT but at times can feel overwhelmed when certain members either spam multiple threads or keep posting topics which leads in circles.

I find it impossible to navigate the PCGS forum with their software and really only post about topics related to Jefferson Nickels. Being an NGC registry guy, I can't stand the open contempt that many of the CU members have for NGC and I really really really hate kool-aid drinkers.

In my opinion, all debate/discussion/polite and not personal attack arguments have NO business being censored. This is a hobby where divergent opinions are extremely valuable. I have oft times debated with Doug about grading, and he's been professional, polite, and authoritative all at the same time. Did I get censored for disagreeing about grading philosophies and TPG opinions? No, as the debate was never personal. TO stifle such discourse is extremely destructive to a hobby that contains a lot of subjectivity in terms of things such as "value, eye appeal, luster, strike, and overall grade" of a coin. Different opinions are what makes the world go around, and it seems that cutting it off is counterproductive. I use PCGS and purchase PCGS coins considerably, but far from exclusively--does that mean that if I say one negative or less than totally complimentary thing, I should be censored? Any business model is subject to criticism and that is the way it should be. Granted, harassment, obscenity, and general trolling any forum is both mean, counterproductive and unacceptable. However, if one can't criticize in a positive and constructive way, now does one learn new ideas? This forum doesn't do that and I am grateful for its existence--I could not deal with heavy censorship in any coin hobby environment, based on just differences of opinion.

If CU's u.s. coin forum were split into classic vs. modern, that alone would make for easier surfing, for me. I have to scroll down a few pages every time I go there. However, solid info, and great place to read Eric Jordan and MCM info. I like it here, there, GIM, and kitco.

I made the comment on the CU version of this thread regarding CT. Their forum software is very ancient. Its full of so many quirks. I wish they would invest some $ into upgrading it.

Doing simple forum coding is different then any other board I use.
