Well, I haven't posted too much in the past couple years but I have been around reading & visiting the site all along. The past 2 months I have been quite busy. As some of you know, I worked for a decent size coin company for nearly the past 7 years. That came to an end on the 1st of May & I went out on my own. I have started my own shop just over the Michigan border from my hometown of Toledo, OH.I did all the remodel my self , putting countless hours into the place.Buliding walls, painting ,sanding, installing security cameras ,gates & locks ,buliding furniture, moving cases,& the list goes on & on . Now , a place I can call my own with my own rules & policies . In Ohio we have sales tax on bullion & numismatic items, in Michigan there is NO sales tax. A nice advantage for me over the competition being so close to the border. If anyone is in the area stop by I'd like to meet any of you & talk coins ,heck even sell you something . So come by Bedford Coin & Jewelry ,say hello & check it out. I do have a website (although it is not fully updated ) & a facebook edited if you would care to like it. Here are a couple pics of my shop. More display cases ,ect.. will be coming in over the next month. I should be a bit more active on the forum but if not I hope it is because I'm really busy in the shop. Jason Rodgers Owner - Numismatist Bedford Coin & Jewelry Oh & Hontonai , I never looked back
Way to go Jason, it looks nice. I will have to head down for a visit! I am just outside of Detroit. What are the store hours?
Thanks it should be clean considering that this pic is what it looked like 6 weeks ago & thx for the FB like !
Nice! That's not too far from me, maybe 45 minutes. I'll have to stop by sometime. I have buddies in Toledo that I visit sometimes.
That is nice to hear, especially after so many threads discouraging members (and probably rightfully so) from doing exactly what Jason has done. Owning your own B&M might sound like a lot of fun, but I'm sure there's a lot more work, risk factor and cost involved than most of us would want to undertake. Glad to see Budgood taking the "leap"... and I wish him all the luck in the world!
Congratulations Jason, phenomenal job with the remodel. You shouldn't have any problem making a name for yourself. You've done all the required research to become a successful owner. Let us know when you get a website launched, looking forward to seeing your wares.
I wasn't very clear on that .The website is up ,I just don't have much inventory on it . It's running though . A couple of blog posts , and a couple of items . I'll add to it soon, still tweaking the physical space before the virtual space .
Wow you did a ton of work! Place looks great, if I'm ever in the area I will make it a point to stop by. Inventory looks great too, at least what I can see of it. good luck!! :thumb: I know, I know! Have a grand opening contest. Heck you can even have one on here, I guess. I meant have something out in your area to get people in the door. :thumb:
