A friend of mine was at an estate sale and bought a bunch of boxes of "junk" and in one of the boxes was a coffee can full of them. He called a guy to buy them and agreed to sell them for $7 apiece and then came over to my house. The guy couldn't make it to the bank till after 3:00. He says "This guy is paying less than melt and said he was gonna scrap 'em. I just want to see if there's anything good in there." I picked out the '16s and the obv. MM '17s and showed them to him in the book. I also told him the current spot value for the common ones. He says, "Well, this guy is about to pay me way more than I got 'em for, and he's just gonna scrap 'em anyway. You collect these things and I'd rather see them go to a collection than a melting pot. You can just keep the ones you picked out, and here's some more for helping me out!" :thumb:  In the end I talked him into accepting $100 and a case of beer, to be drunk on a future date. I hope the guy didn't buy them all. I almost raided my star note collection for more!!! Honesty pays and this is proof!
Thanks! I just got off the phone with him and the guy bought all the remaining WLH's He says there was 'other coins' in there as well and is bringing more by on Saturday for me to look at. I can't wait to see what he'll bring me!
